An affirmation is a statement we make about a person, place, thing, or situation. It is something we "state" to others or to ourselves. Affirmations are based on our beliefs what we often create as our "truths" or our reality. Affirmations can either be positive or negative in nature. In the hustle and bustle of every day life, we often times, unconsciously belittle ourselves by saying self-condemning statements (affirmations) such as these:
Everyone is guilty of making negative statements at one time or another. It is within the human condition that most of us have learned to be negative rather than positive. It is unfortunate, but from a very young age most of us have been programmed to think of ourselves in a hard, judgmental and negative fashion. What would happen if we were to turn these statements above into positive ones about ourselves? Might we actually begin to believe good things about ourselves? If so, might we actually begin to create good results in our lives?
